New York in Color

For one of my class projects, we were required to create short video about anything in New York City. I am very drawn to color, and I find the psychology behind it to be fascinating. My camera roll is filled with the colors of this city, so I made this video to describe the emotions it evokes and what they represent to me.
Since moving here, I have noticed how lively this city is compared to other places I’ve been. It’s bursting at the seams with energy, culture, and color, each representing a part of New York that all add up to make it a place unlike any other.
Just like yellow. Taxis, metro cards, street signs… yellow is everywhere. It means joy and happiness and lights up the sky at night. But it also means caution, and reminds us to be careful and expect anything, cause anything crazy is normal in New York.
At first, I thought this city didn’t have any nature. Turns out, New York has many beautiful spots of greenery. Seeing green reminds me that there are still places to breathe fresh air, even if we might have to travel underground to get there.
New York is a lonely city. It’s easy to feel blue at times. But it’s given me a canvas to learn and grow, and embrace a state of solitude is bliss.
"What do you think of when you think of red?"
"Red is the color of love. But it's also the color of passion and anger. It's also the color that reminds me of Italian restaurants. Once I read an article about how red is the color that inspires hunger. Maybe that's why we like tomatoes so much."
New York is a rainbow.
